  4. “Life on the Nickel” - Foster the People

Remember when I said that Foster the People was going to be huge in 2011? Well, their debut LP, Torches, which features production work from Greg Kurstin and Paul Epworth, was released this week, and it’s only $7.99 on iTunes until Sunday. Already, they’ve captured the attention of a Jones brother, and they performed for the first time on national TV on Wednesday.

Their first single, “Pumped Up Kicks,” has been called this year’s anthem by SPIN magazine. But at Coachella, “Life on the Nickel” was the standout.

The band is now shooting their next video for “Helena Beat,” which they describe as “Lord of the Flies meets post-apocalyptic Mad Max.” Hmm, I wonder where they got that idea from?

  7. “Houdini” - Foster the People

Mark my words, Foster the People is going to be the breakout band of 2011. That is unless they’re a complete disappointment live at Coachella…
